2. My new job offer comes with a need for me to relocate to another country. I knew that relocation was a possibility when I interviewed, but I didn't know it meant possibly leaving the United States. Should I take the job anyway and wait for an opportunity to transfer back to the U.S. at a later time, or should I just decline the offer and keep looking?

Business Idea For Young Entrepreneur: A child could start a gift basket business. When my daughter was 10 she wanted to go to her favorite amusement park. I let her know that the only way she could was to sell gift baskets for $10 a piece. Within 30 minutes she sold all of the gift baskets. I let her handle the interactions with each customer. After the successful event she was able to go to her fun place and return home with some extra cash.

About WOE Enterprise

A few years ago my life hit rock bottom. I looked into the bible and I saw the word woe. I also wanted to see how the dictionary defined woe. Woe meant trials or tribulations. In life a woe to you might be a job loss and to another it might be a broken relationship.

One day I was thinking how I could reinvent my life so I wrote down the word woe on a piece of paper. As the document spoke to me it revealed that woe now meant WOE as in Word of Encouragement. From there I received this slogan.

“Before you leave work or go to sleep tonight, give someone a WOE, a Word Of Encouragement.”

Do Rag

Do Rag or not to Do Rag (at a restaurant) is the question?

I went out to eat with my family last week and after we sat down a young couple was seated beside us. The couple was dressed casual and the one thing that stood out in mind was that the young man was wearing a Do Rag.

A few thoughts came to me. Why in the world is he wearing a Do Rag out on a date with a classy lady? Am I wrong to think like this?

After shaking my head for a few minutes I thought to myself that this is only a Do Rag.

What if you could put on a Do Rag and it could really make you Do all the tings you could never Do before?

Ray Charles said it best, “make it do what it do baby”. If you have a talent or a dream step up your game and make something happen.

No matter what you do think about what Spike Lee said, and “Do The Right Thing”.

The TEEN Principle

Here is a formula for youth to find a business idea and build it into an enterprise.

T- Talent. Everyone has a gift. Look inside of you and find out what you do best and think of ways that you can turn this into an enterprise.

E- Energy. Whatever business you decide to start you have to have passion for it so that you will want to keep going through the good and bad times.

E- Execution. You have to have a plan for your business. In life you either make something happen or react to what is happening.

N- Nurture. Your business is your life. The more you know and invest in it the more you grow. Keep working in your business and plant seeds into others so that you will have a network that will always be there to help you.

I have over 15 years of working with and motivating teens and college students. I started a blog Business In College at http://www.BusinessInCollege.com to help promote students that have started businesses. If you know a young entrepreneur please have them contact me or send me their information so I can get their word out to others.

Ask The Experts:

Some of the topics you can comment on this week are:

I own a small business and one of my biggest clients has been dubbed "Mr. Clickenbuzz" by my sales team because he has a habit of hanging up without saying good-bye and without making sure the call is really ended. A discussion with my whole team revealed that he reserves this dismissive behavior especially for my sales reps. This is one of the worst telephone etiquette offenses, and I really need to impress upon him how disrespected my sales team feels BEFORE someone makes the mistake of calling him "Mr. Clickenbuzz" to his face. Should I use a subtle approach to get my point across or should I be more straightforward?

A Tribute to Fathers

Mother’s Day is such a big day in the hearts of most people, it seems as though Father’s Day goes virtually unnoticed. It will continue to be that way unless we acknowledge and equally honor the men who helped to give us life. With this in mind, I have to thank Eugene Stewart for even asking me to write a piece in recognition of fathers.

If you look at things from the outside you may miss out on what’s on the inside. In one person’s eyes you could seem to be upbeat, but with the next breath, someone else may feel that you are a deadbeat. As men, do the best you can while you can. Our children did not ask to be here, so let’s shine a light that they will always be proud to walk in. I did not know how big my dad’s shoes were until I became a father.

When I looked inside the word “father,” I was blessed to see words and meanings that made me proud to be a man. Inspired, I took each letter in the word, assigned it a representative word, and crafted a special meaning that enriches fathers’ overall message. It’s time that we break the word down so that we can build the man up.

F - FarYou can go as far as your mind can take you. This piece was originally a poem, but when I sent it in, Shawn thought it could benefit more men if I expanded it in to an article. The vision that gave birth to this article is a treasure that we all have. One way to go far is to look within so you won’t be without. How far do you want to go?

A - AfterThe woman comes after the man and the child after the woman. Whether or not you desire to be in first or second place, there must be order in your court. Someone has to be the head while another might be the tail. The objective should be to avoid dragging your tail in the ground and not lead your head in the wrong direction.

T - TearLife attempts to tear you apart and we often shed a tear for the fathers, sons, uncles, and nephews that we have lost. Everyone goes through something. What life brings your way can build you up or break you down. In the word build is U and I, and it will take all of us to be that village that raises our children. Handle your life with care like a package that has “fragile” stamped on it.

H - HeatReal love produces heat that will keep you warm and protect you from the bitter cold. In 1 Corinthians 13:13 it says “And these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” Ali was the greatest and not just because he was the best boxer. He loved what he did. As you look at your children, think about how they came into this world. Helping bring life into this world is one of the greatest things you can ever do. The next greatest thing is helping to raise what you gave life to.

E - EarthAs long as you are on this earth you might as well get off your grass and plant some seeds into another life. Do you have a purpose-driven life? Have you found your calling? It has much to do with everything. Fruit falls right by the tree and should be ripe, not rotten. Are you in a dead-end job? You can use your talents and abilities to turn that situation into opportunities. Start today by helping someone. In turn, someone will help you. Stop acting sour and start
sowing seeds so we can all share in the reaping of your harvest. If it don’t apply, let it fly.

R - RaftLook at the word ARRIVE. Cross out the first R and place it at the end of the word. You should have A RIVER. When you arrive on time and with a purpose, things in your life will begin to flow just like A RIVER. If your life is not flowing like a river, but rather raging out of control, you may have to jump on your raft to survive.

Together we have looked at FATHER letter by letter and the discovery is that we can go FAR, if we know what we are AFTER. TEAR down your walls in your relationships so you can feel the HEAT that’s waiting for you on EARTH. Get on your RAFT so you can find your purpose that will flow your life just like A RIVER.

If we break down the word instead of the human then he will always go FATHER. FATHER than ever before—FATHER than you could have ever imagined. And if we FATHER our education we can move our trials and tribulations FATHER and FATHER away.

I Just Don't Know

Copyright © 2010 by Encouragement Speaker Derrick Hayes

I know what the scripture says
Where is my prayer of Jabez?
I asked to be blessed indeed
Are you going to fulfill my needs?
When the world tells my story
Will I have an enlarged territory?
As I crawl to walk for all to see
Will thy hand stay with me?
Will you push me past pain
Forward me through unto gain?
When words are spoke off my chest
Will I be granted my request?
Do I ever wake from my dreams?
Where I’m on top and reign supreme?
Lessons turn corners and give us reality
Will my life be legend or leave a legacy?

God, I ask because I just Don’t Know

Black History Speaker

Every February we come together to celebrate Black History Month. Each day there should be a celebration.

It should not take McDonald’s to tell us that Black History is 365.

I know that we have made tremendous contributions to mankind. The title of George Fraser’s book sums it up best “Success Runs In Our Race.”

In Hosea 4:6 it says “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

If you knew where you came from would you want to stay where you are? A few years ago I did research to find out what all inventions people of color have contributed to society. Before I took on this assignment I lacked the knowledge of our history. Research the truth for yourself so you won’t lack history.

Once you read this article make a note of all the inventions of color that you touch on a daily basis. You can even have fun with it and see who in the family can come up with the most on their list? I will share a few of these incredible innovations with you that have stood the test of time. In the future you should be able to name at least three black inventions.

When you wake up and iron your clothes up in the morning you have to thank Sarah Boone for inventing the ironing board.

T. Elkins must have become tired of having to go out to the outhouse when he decided to put in a new toilet.

Before you go to sleep at night and put on the home security system you have to be thankful that Marie Brown wanted you to feel safe and secure.

When your grass gets high John A. Burr is the one responsible for giving us a lawnmower.

If you answer the door by turning the door knob or keep it open with the door stop be grateful that O. Dorsey inspired us with his gifts.

Tiger Woods best friend could be George F. Grant as he revolutionized the game of golf with the introduction of the golf tee.

Floors were sticky until T.W. Stewart created the mop.

Mail carriers have to pay tribute to P.B. Dowing for being able to put mail into a postal letter box.

Other great inventions that I will mention are the kitchen table, gas burner, lawn sprinkler, refrigerator, helicopter, roller coaster, curtain rod, folding chair, lock, peanut butter, lotion, soap, clothes dryer, fire extinguisher, pressure cooker, telephone system, and many more.

I felt it was important to teach those who don’t know and remind the ones that do about what we can do if we put our minds to it. People before us pressed their way through no matter what the circumstances were. Now it’s your turn to find others and teach these stories so they won’t lack history.
